The DVLA car tax scam which could cost motorists £1,000

The DVLA has issued a warning to motorists about a tax scam that could con motorists out of £1,000.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency tweeted the warning urging drivers to be aware of scammers posing as the agency to use personal details to commit fraud.

The scam messages in question warn the recipient that a road tax payment has failed and they could be fined up to £1,000 should they not update their bank details.

If drivers enter their personal information, scammers could empty their bank account or use license details to commit major offences on their behalf.
